OEB, one of the main parking meter operators in CDMX, invited us to redesign its immobilizers to prevent them from being stolen. With more than 300 stolen units a year, they suffer a lot from both the material loss and the loss of the payment of the fine of the personnel who cut and throw or steal them.
The challenge was to reuse the proven materials and systems of current immobilizers but making improvements in their operation and durability.
The first proposals were based on rethinking its use, reducing the number of parts and increasing safety. The immobilizers must cover different diameters of tires and at the same time be light and transportable in the carts of the workers.
The end result is a slender shape that in turn encompasses the largest central area of the rim, blocking the studs to remove the rim, it was decided to create a single piece on which all the components were incorporated.
